Training & Qualifications
BTEC
RAF Air Cadet's partnership with CVQO (formerly the Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation) means we are able to provide a range of internationally-recognised qualifications to our cadets.
BTEC Certificates and Diplomas, as well as leadership and management qualifications from the Institute of Leadership and Management are available at no cost to the cadet.
Cyber
Cyber is a huge part of today's world with so much being done online; there are always jobs available in the cyber sector. We are proud to say we support this and can offer cadets a taste of the subject, plus qualifications and much experience. From learning how to stay safe on the internet through to cracking cypher codes with Python, you can learn it all via our easily accessible and usually free courses. If you really enjoy it, you can attend a week long Cyber specialist camp where you will be taught by RAF specialists, as did one of ex-cadets who is now on a university apprenticeship at BT Martlesham Heath and still offers his expertise to us.
Leadership
If you want to 'climb the ladder' within us and beyond, you will need to b a competent leader and manager. Hence, leadership and management is a big part of the Air Cadet experience and we teach it right from the beginning because it is incredibly useful for all walks of life.
Locally, we provide training to develop not only your leadership and management skills but also public speaking and instructional techniques. Further leadership and management training is provided at Wing level and beyond to enable cadets to take on the responsibilities of higher rank.
First Aid
We have a talented group of first aid instructors both on our Squadron and beyond. In your first year you will learn how to respond to situations that can arise in daily life, learning the signs & symptoms of first aid for cuts, breaks, burns, heart attacks, strokes, etc; maybe one day you could save someones life!
Like with most topics within RAFAC, you can take your first aid skills to a higher level. If you're thinking about being a paramedic, a nurse or anything else in the healthcare sector we can offer you some the early building blocks to such a career!
